Research

FuelYOUths is a project my team and I did for Health Promotion Board. Designed for youths' health, we empathize with youths (students), define the problem, brainstormed solutions, design prototype and test with youths.

We wanted to find out

  • What contributes to students' mindset about prioritizing health while pursuing their career?
  • Youths understanding the long-term risk of neglecting health

We conducted desktop research, online survey and online interviews. Here is what we gathered from them by doing affinity diagrams, personas, empathy maps and journey maps.

Define Problem Statement

"How might we reframe health as a strategic advantage that is short, simple and influential for tertiary students (aged 17–25) in their journey toward future success?"

Ideate

Each of us brainstormed ideas then we discuss and vote the one that is feasible. We decided on designing a mobile web connected from Healthy 365 app.

Through our solution, students can see that being healthy earns them rewards, which can ease financial stress or give perks by linking healthy habits to real-life benefits like food, tech discounts, or campus perks. This directly incentivizes better choices by showing that health is not a cost of time, but an investment with both short-term and long-term returns.

Micro-challenges like a 5-minute stretch or hydration check-in make wellness feel quick, doable, and impactful. These simple habits build momentum and show students that small steps can lead to lasting change.

Gamification elements like points and the leaderboards can tap into students’ intrinsic motivation and having competitive challenges can make wellness a social and influential activity.
